Guy Alan Friddle, 55, a retired U.S. Navy serviceman, died Sept. 8, 2002 at Memorial Hospital in Bakersfield.

He was born Aug. 16, 1947, in Pittsburgh and grew up on the Monterey Peninsula. He graduated from Pacific Grove High School in 1966 and then served in the Navy.

After retiring, he returned to the Peninsula briefly before settling in Bakersfield. Mr. Friddle held many jobs and was particularly fond of mechanical work. He also enjoyed playing his guitar.
