Robert 'Howard' Hall Jr. (69)

Robert "Howard" Hall, Jr. Jan. 22, 1948 - Apr. 24, 2017 Resident of Santa Cruz Howard Hall shared his impossibly charming smile and infectious laugh at every introduction. He elevated every room and invited all to his party. He loved and lived in enviable ways.

On April 24th, with generations of family and friends by his side, he passed on from this life after a courageous battle with cancer.

Howard was born January 22, 1948 in Monterey, CA and raised in Pacific Grove, graduating PG High in '66 where he excelled in football and baseball. Howard graduated from San Jose State College in 1971 with a degree in Communications.

Shortly after graduation, Howard found Carolyn-- his life love, tireless partner and advocate, and devoted mother to their two beautiful daughters, Aimee and Tricia.

Howard worked as a driver, delivering packages for UPS for more than 25 years until he retired in 2005.

In retirement, Howard dedicated time at his grandchildren's Happy Valley School, volunteering for seniors at Meals on Wheels, and was a proud member and Past President of the Santa Cruz Host Lions Club.

Never short of the perfect joke, he thrived during social gatherings making sure everyone felt included. Howard lived for family and friendship, whether it was family Thanksgivings, camping under the stars in Yosemite, Ross Street block parties or on the golf course with best buddies.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ruthe Hall and is survived by his wife, Carolyn, daughters Aimee Brunette and Tricia Theodosis and her husband Nick, grandchildren Rowan and Alissa Brunette, and Billy and Benny Theodosis, and his faithful dog, Pickles.

He is also survived by his sister, Bobbie Hall of Pacific Grove, brother Ralph Hall and wife Paula of Corralitos, niece Meghan Hall, and friends too many to count.

A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Howard's name may be made to Santa Cruz Host Lions Club or Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter..

"I am so sorry to hear of ths loss of our gregarious and loving classmate. Sat with him and his beautiful wife at the reunion bbq. Memories of a kind and friendly soul. My heart goes out to his family. RIP Howard..." Linda (Culp) Chaney

"I am in shock. This dear man was just at our reunion and shared that gorgeous and warm smile as always. We have known Howard nearly our entire lives. My heartfelt sympathy goes to Carolyn and family. I will keep them and Howard in my prayers and thoughts. This is shocking. May God ease the pain of this terrible loss for all who were fortunate enough to have known this fabulous, loving, giving, kind soul." Carol (Bradley) Lauderdale

"Howard and I grew up together and was far too young to leave this life." Rusty Williams

"Howard was a great person and will be missed by everyone who knew him." Doug Bird

"We've lost a good one." Sandi (Thornton) Ellis

"Howard was one of our most endearing classmates and will be terribly missed. Im glad I got to spend some time with him at our recent reunion. I've shot a lot of the videos at our reunions and Howard gets some limelight in all of them. I plan to have DVD's ready for the next reunion so we all have a chance to cherish the memories of Howard and other classmates who have passed away." Greg Dorman

"R.I.P My friend, the world has lost a great person." Gary Livingston

"We grew up together and played army in the woods and played football in front of Jay Miller's house, baseball in the street on Sloat Road, and did a lot of other things together. Howard was born a couple days before my sister. The picture of him that you included in the email brings back a lot of memories. Those eyes and that smile and of course his laugh was the same now as it was then. When he got the best of me or whatever it was he would do that laugh just to get back at me . And other times when we would tell each other jokes there was that laugh" Dale Lipp

"I had a nice conversation with Howard Hall at the 50 year reunion. Makes you realize how important it is to attend these reunions to see your classmates. Sympathy for his wife and family." Karen (Garcia) Prestigiacomo
