James Carl Popkey
James Carl Popkey, a former resident of the Monterey Peninsula, died March 23 in Portland, Ore. He was 50
Born March 11, 1948, in San Jose, he had lived in Monterey County nearly all of his life.
Mr. Popkey was employed as a bond broker and fisherman.
He was a 1966 graduate of Pacific Grove High School and a 1977 graduate of San Jose State University where he earned a bachelor's degree in art.
He was an avid sport fisherman and a potter.
He is survived by his mother, Ann Popkey of Carmel Valley, a brother, Larry Popkey of Pacific Grove; his ex-wife, Colleen Popkey of Carmel; and a stepson, Frayne Padgham of Carmel Valley.
Services will be held at 1 P.M. Saturday at the Carmel Valley Community Center.
