September 14, 1997 FACULTY Alma Dorothy (Thureson) Borchers (86) Monterey Peninsula Herald, CA Sept. 20, 1997 Ex-Pacific Grove – Alma D. Borchers, 86, a former resident of Pacific Grove, died Sunday at Mount Diablo Hospital in Walnut Creek. Born March 2, 1911, in San Jose, she lived in Pacific Grove and was a teacher with the Pacific Grove Unified School District for 25 years. She moved to Walnut Creek six years ago. Mrs. Borchers was a member of the California State Retired Teachers Association, the Monterey Peninsula Gem and Mineral Society and Tau Mu. She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Zurn of Bremerton, Wash., and Brenda Hibel of Pleasant hill; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. today at the Grace Episcopal Church in Martinez, Inurnment will be private. The Oakmont Memorial park and Mortuary in Lafayette is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests that any memorial contributions be sent to St. Mary’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Pacific Grove. |
