FACULTY Monterey County Herald, CA (online edition) Aug. 23, 2006 August 1, 1921 ~ August 21, 2006 Pacific Grove - Frances Lora Summers, age 85, a native of Gibbon, Nebraska and a long-time resident of Pacific Grove, passed away at her home after a brief illness. She served in the Women's Army Corps during World War II. Frances retired after 29 years as a Pacific Grove High School home economics teacher. She was a volunteer at the annual Bing Crosby Pro-Am Tournament and also enjoyed swimming at the Josephine Kernes Memorial Pool. Frances is survived by her sons, Alan (Susan) Wilson of Foster City and Bill Summers of Pacific Grove; her daughter, Karen (Harry) Watkins of Salt Lake City, UT; her siblings, Janeth Taylor and Donald Thatcher; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and her daughter-in-law, Vickie Wilson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville, and her son, Carl "Doug" Wilson. Funeral services will take place on Friday, August 25, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at The Paul Mortuary Chapel, 390 Lighthouse Ave., Pacific Grove, followed by burial at El Carmelo Cemetery, also in Pacific Grove. |
